James Brown
Plain and simply, James Brown has helped define and change the way we hear music today. The “Geronimo” catalog contains some of the most substantial songs written by the Godfather of Soul himself.
His records were more heavily sampled by rap and hip-hop acts than those of any other artist, and he achieved renewed street credibility by recording a single (“Unity”) with rapper Afrika Bambaataa in 1984. Brown was among the first group of performers inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. Although he has passed on, his music and legacy will never be forgotten.
